900 Series Flux Designed Specifically for Fabrication of Line Pipe
Lincolnweld 995N is recommended for single pass, square butt welding such as longitudinal and spiral seams on pipe greater than 50mm in thickness. For pipe 50mm and less, 997 Flux is the recommended flux. In particular, 995N flux is recommended with LA-81 electrode for applications requiring a minimum of 67 joules impact strength @ -50¦F (-46¦C).
For applications where impact requirements are 40 Joules @ -20¦F (-29¦C), 995N or 995 fluxes with L-70 electrode are the recommended combinations. Also, where impact strength is not required, 995N or 995 fluxes can be used with L-61 electrode.
995N flux produces welds with minimal buildup and good penetration, which makes 995N particularly suited for high speed longitudinal seam welding of pipe. 995N flux can also be used for spiral seam welding. It can be on single arc applications or on multiple arc applications with up to 5 welding arcs. On applications requiring more passes, an "800" series flux is recommended for better multiple pass impact strength.
